M.F.B.E.A. Announcement: Culinaire Malaysia 2023

Selected Fee Reduction and Subsidy for TVET and Polytechnic Student Participants.

The Malaysian Food and Beverage Executives Association (M.F.B.E.A.) is pleased to announce that the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and MAH Culinaire Malaysia 2023 Organising Chairman and Committee have graciously consented to the request of a reduction in Participation Fees at the Culinaire Malaysia 2023/CM23 for selected categories and participants.

This is seen as a step to encourage greater youth participation at South East Asia’s premier Culinary, F&B and Services showcase event scheduled from 19 to 22 September at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

M.F.B.E.A. President Muhammad Hisham Tan Abdullah’s response to this good news; “In addition to the fee reduction, M.F.B.E.A. is stepping up by subsidising a selected number of Team Challenge and Individual participants respectively, from the M.F.B.E.A. network of TVET, Polytechnic, Community College, IKBN/IKTBN Institutions.”

These new fees only applicable for TVET and Polytechnic Institution student participants are:

RM500.00 for Team Challenges (Class 33, Class 34, Class 35)

RM150.00 for Selected Individual Classes (Class 21, Class 23, Class 24, Class 25, Class 27)   

The M.F.B.E.A. CM23 Live Action Competition Categories eligible for fee reductions and subsidies:

INDIVIDUAL:

Food & Beverage Skills:

Class 21: Malaysian Local Fruit Flambe

Class 23: Fine Dining Themed Table Setting Class

Coffee Connoisseur:

Class 24: Barista Championship

Class 25: Latte Art Competition – Art Bar

Class 27: Cold Brew Kopi Tarik Challenge

TEAM CHALLENGE:

Class 33: Old Malaya Hi-tea – Professional

Class 34: Asian Tapas Hi-tea – Professional

Class 35: Event Coffee Mocktail Challenge

To summarize;

Team Challenge:

Class 33 – 3 teams

Class 34 – 3 teams

Class 35 – 3 teams

Standby 1 team.

M.F.B.E.A. will subsidise/be charged per team RM200.00 from the RM500.00 i.e. participants need to only pay RM300.00 to MAH. Quota: 10 teams.

Individual:

Class 21 Flambe – 5 pax

Class 23 Table Setting – 5 Pax

Class 24 Barista – 3 pax

Class 25 Latte Art – 3 pax

Class 27 Cold Brew Kopi Tarik – 4 pax

M.F.B.E.A. will subsidise/be charged per Individual participant RM50.00 from the RM150.00 i.e. participants need to only pay RM100.00 to MAH. Quota: 20pax.

Hisham Tan adds; “Wishing that we could do more, M.F.B.E.A. feels compelled to take on some of the financial burden off these education institutions as it is important to build the confidence of students and for them to demonstrate and assess the progress of their hard-earned knowledge and skills amongst peers.

We also consider this as part of M.F.B.E.A. responsibility toward Youth Development for the HORECA sectors; In The Industry, For The Industry.”

Those who have already signed up earlier will not be reimbursed as these new fee structures and subsidies are only applicable beginning Wednesday, 26 July 2023.

Closing date for all applications has been extended to 23 August 2023.
